11 August 2006: Digital Sto...
Friday 11 August 2006
ACT LearnScope and the Yurauna Centre at the Canberra Institute of Technology combined to spend a day learning how to create a digital story. Participants were shown how to use freely available software (Photostory 3 and Movie Maker) to create interesting and informative stories using their own photos.
Two pictorial records of the successful NAIDOC week celebrations were created and several stories of individual adventures were produced. A highlight was when Phil created some live didgeridoo music to add to his story of a Journey of Reconciliation to Uluru.
Two of the teachers working with Indigenous students were enthused by the experience and hope to utilise the pictorial story telling technique with their classes. In one case to enhance a module on media and in another, to capture the efforts of students creating their own art works.
Below is an example of a digital story produced by Marina who attended the workshop. Please note that this file is dependent on the accessibility of another server. If you have difficulties playing the file below, here is the direct link to the file: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgCaDafj_N8.
