Projects 2007

LearnScope is a project of the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework). Since its inception in 1998, LearnScope has been part of a national strategy to increase the capacity of vocational and technical education (VET) professionals to use flexible learning approaches and new technologies in the delivery of training.

LearnScope focuses on professional development to enhance the skills and understanding that underpin e-Learning and e-business.  It provides funding for work-based professional development projects and encourages both individuals and teams to model sustainable practices in their own learning through a range of strategies including engagement with recent thinking about professional development in the 'knowledge era'.

In 2007, LearnScope projects are supporting the uptake of e-learning in VET delivery in the classroom, workplace and online with a stronger focus on professional development through engagement of students and industry in e-learning delivery and demonstration of how clients are benefiting from e-learning initiatives.

New research released:

LearnScope Retrospective - A study of the impact of LearnScope on flexible learning in vocational education and training (VET) in Australia 1998-2006

This report presents findings of research conducted during 2006 into the LearnScope Project. Information for the project was gathered via surveys, focus groups and case studies from LearnScope participants from 1998 to 2006.

The research suggests that LearnScope has been successful in encouraging the uptake of elearning to meet the needs of clients and for professional development for VET teachers. On average 70% of respondents reported that LearnScope had an impact on their ability to implement elearning choices for clients at a 'significant' to 'highly significant' level. Survey respondents commented that they have been able to create more flexible learning options for individual learners and target groups and that technology assists them to do this.
